40 Days for Life Starts Tomorrow!

Thank you so much for being a part of our Alexandria Spring 2011 Campaign! Tomorrow we begin “a focused pro-life campaign with a vision to access God’s power through prayer, fasting, and peaceful vigil to end abortion in America” -- 40 Days for Life!!!

Campaign overview and details are included for returning volunteers as well as those who may be new to the campaign this spring.

40 Days for Life is based on the biblical example of 40 Days of prayer for spiritual transformation. There are three basic elements to the campaign:
  • prayer and fasting: each person is invited to pray and fast for an end to abortion
  • peaceful vigil: people come at specific times to pray and witness for life, and
  • community outreach: we share the pro-life message with our neighbors.
The campaign is held twice each year, spring and fall, and the spring campaign will be held from March 9-April 17, Ash Wednesday through Palm Sunday.

The mission of 40 Days for Life is “to bring together the body of Christ in a spirit of unity during a focused 40 Day campaign of prayer, fasting, and peaceful activism, with the purpose of repentance, to seek God’s favor to turn hearts and minds from a culture of death to a culture of life, thus bringing an end to abortion in America.”

Since 40 Days for Life began 6 years ago in Bryan Station, TX, it has spread to many locations around the world, including Fairfax, Manassas, and Washington, DC. 40 Days for Life has seen 3,599 babies saved, 9 mills closed, 43 workers converted, and 400,000+ people taking a stand for life!

Our Alexandria vigil will be at the abortion facility just around the corner where we will process shortly, from 7:30am-9:30pm every day beginning Wednesday, and we will distribute pro-life resources and information during the 6 Saturdays of the campaign, from 9:30am-4:30pm. Thanks to your commitments, we have many time slots covered already! There are still empty slots remaining, particularly during the afternoons and weekends, and we are in need of people to help as “mail-boys” on Saturdays!

Thanks for being a part of our campaign -- and see you at the vigil!
