Great Turnout and Participation at Cast the Vision Friday Night!

The 40 Days for Life - Alexandria, VA, team held a successful "Cast the Vision" informational event Friday night at St. Mary's Lyceum! All team leaders were able to be present, and attendance was excellent - up about 400% from last year! - including representatives from about six Catholic parishes, as well as George Mason University Law School.

The meeting began around 7:30pm with a prayer, after which team leaders took turns describing the 40 Days for Life campaign and various parts of the project. Attendees were interested and involved in the discussion, asking questions and commenting on topics as the evening progressed. Special thanks to Ryan Howard, past prayer coordinator, who brought his TV and audio-visual equipment to enable a smooth showing of the 40 Days for Life video trailer.

Attendees came away with a good deal of information about our Spring Campaign, and hopefully will be motivated to participate. Paul got several signups for his outreach team, and Mary Ellen had a great deal of information available regarding the vigil. Several attendees noted they were glad they had come. In addition, donations were received totaling $92.00, giving us some much-appreciated funding to pay for signs, radio ads, and necessary supplies. "So where do we go from here?" asks the Campaign Coordinator, now that our "Vision" has been "Cast" as of Friday night. Well, from here, the fact is, the ball starts rolling. We're geared up and in motion, and what we have to do now is each do our part to keep that momentum going, through the month of February to Kickoff and the start of our campaign. In particular what we will be seeking in February is individual commitments.

I'd like to ask a special favor from each of you this weekend: if you could each please make a personal commitment to the individual training sessions, outreach dates and times, or vigil hours that you will be able to participate in. Sign up for vigil hours using our online calendar (http://vigilcalendar.com/alexandria/login/login_page), email Paul with dates and times you would like to join in the outreach, and register for one or more of the training sessions if you would like to do so by emailing Sara at jandsdina@cox.net. This will give us a great start on our outreach for February. I'd really appreciate if you could take a minute this weekend and do this for me!

Let's remember the saying, "Pray as if it all depended on God, and work as though it all depended on us."

Have a great weekend, team!
