Day Five: Windy Weekend

Saturday's vigil has been busy and well-staffed. New volunteer Oswaldo has taken the early morning shift, and gotten the day off to a great start! A group of people from St. Rita Church made their appearance in the morning, and the day unfolded hour-by-hour with additional volunteers from St. Mary Church and other local churches. Volunteer Helen agreed to staff the 6-7pm hour at the end of the day so that hour was actually covered as well!

Please contact us if you need a sign, prayer book, or pro-life literature for your scheduled vigil shift! We have many materials available for your use, and have already put in an order for new vigil signs as we have distributed so many of them already!

Our intrepid outreach team returned to the streets this morning, hitting around five hundred doors with pro-life reading material as well as our 40 Days for Life Alexandria campaign flyer and local pregnancy resources. Homes reached included apartment buildings as well as single-family dwellings near the Duke Street abortion facilities. They plan to go out again on the following Saturday, so if you can spare the time in your Lenten schedule give Outreach Coordinator Paul a call and join them!

We have several holes in our upcoming vigil schedule for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons: if you are available to help staff vigil hours on those days please let us know! We would really like to staff at least two people per hour regularly -- if there are fewer people, unexpected cancellations and sickness can really cause some gaps in the schedule. Click here to view our vigil schedule, and consider signing up for a regular weekly time particularly if the slot is listed as red (nobody signed up yet) or yellow (only one person signed up so far). For assistance and help with your vigil signups contact Mary Ellen McElfresh (maryellen.40days@verizon.net, 703-780-2922).

Thanks for your ongoing prayer and support during this first week of our campaign, and may God bless all of our continuing efforts!
