Day 6: Pizza Delivery Man and UnPLANNED

The Lord blessed those keeping vigil this weekend with beautiful warm weather -- spring is practically here! Though our vigil can be sad, and we may feel our hours to be tedious and unfruitful, God acknowledges our efforts, and blesses and comforts us in many ways -- and a beautiful day is one of His blessings!

An old story is often repeated of a retiring missionary coming home to America on the same boat as the president of the United States. Cheering crowds, a military band, a red carpet, banners, and the media welcomed the president home, but the missionary slipped off the ship unnoticed. Feeling self-pity and resentment, he began complaining to God. Then God gently reminded him, 'But my child, you're not home yet.' (Purpose-Driven Life, Day 6)

Today's quote from Rick Warren reminds us that our good works will often go unnoticed by the world, and we will seem foolish to others, but this world is not our Home, and God celebrates all our good works done for Him!

Two vigil keepers, Claire and Tracie, took an awkward situation and found the humor in it, and shared the message of 40 Days For Life with an unsuspecting pizza delivery man...

Claire was standing vigil with Tracie this evening, and a pizza delivery man pulled up. Claire was a bit nervous that the man had something confrontational to say, but the man asked, "Why are you standing here?" Claire explained that there was an abortion facility here, and they were standing vigil. The man asked, "Are you OK?" in a concerned tone. Claire assured him that they were praying to end abortion. When the man finally understood what was going on, he left in a hurry. Claire and Tracie exchanged a chuckle: the man probably thought they were homeless or in need of assistance!
