40 Days for Life Spring 2011: Planning Begins!

I would like to open our first 2011 campaign blog post with a quote from one of my modern pro-life heroes, Dr. John Bruchalski. This is a West Point cadet maxim, but the last two lines are added:

Risk more than others think is safe.
Care more than others think is wise.
Dream more than others think is practical.
Expect more than others think is possible.
Why?
Because with Him, all things are possible.

Yes, it's true that with God, all things are possible, even the most critical dreams of our hearts, and surely respect by all for human life falls into this realm.

So it is with great joy and confidence that I announce our Spring 2011 40 Days for Life campaign here in beautiful Alexandria, VA. Planning has already begun in earnest for our fifth local campaign. Let's think big, and open our hearts to His will! Please join our 2011 team to keep yourself updated and work for the end of abortion in our city!

If you would like to be included on our Spring Campaign mailing list, please register with the new Spring 2011 team through our website or Facebook page. Our email needs have grown since last fall, and our new Mailchimp system will allow you to manage your preferences, as well as indicate your church and level of interest. Campaign updates and information will be sent through this new system, and not through the method we have used in the past. It will thus be necessary to register for the spring campaign if you would like to receive email updates.

There are several important related initiatives seeking our attention at this time: the UnPLANNED book release, the Virginia Rally for Life, and the March for Life in D.C. on Monday, Jan. 24. All three events have serious potential to shape our future, and need our promotion and participation. Please assist in these as able, and play your part for the precious unborn!

Spring 2011 40 Days for Life begins officially here and around the world on Ash Wednesday, March 9, and extends through Palm Sunday, April 17. We will be holding our Kickoff Rally before the campaign begins, and hope to send you more details as the time draws closer.

Training for all volunteers
will be offered in February in the areas of sidewalk counseling and speaking with others about the pro-life position. We are planning to schedule these training sessions over several times and locations to give everyone the opportunity to participate. I hope you will be able to attend one of these sessions, which I have personally found to be extremely helpful and motivating.

Official campaign events begin with our Cast the Vision informational meeting for individuals and community leaders, to be held on Friday, January 28th, from 7:30-8:30pm at St. Mary's Lyceum (313 Duke St, Alexandria). All are invited to learn our campaign goals for the spring, and how you and your group can help make this effort a success. Please see our website for more details or to RSVP.

Let us band together in this New Year in a renewed effort against the culture of death, and to promote a vibrant and flourishing culture of life in our community. Let us take advantage of the many opportunities to defend life offered to us this month, and in the weeks and months ahead as we keep in mind the innocent unborn, who are being killed day by day across our land. And let us ask Jesus, the little baby born in a manger, who came to free us from all sin and death, to heal our land, and to help us accomplish all good things, in His Holy Name.

I hope you had a merry Christmastide, and wish you a Happy New Year!

God bless,

Jacinta Whittaker
